It is an opportunity to get acquainted with Nepal’s historical, cultural and religious aspects at once. It lets you explore the artistic beauty of the magnificent palaces, temples and historical buildings built in the medieval period in Nepal. As per the mythology, Kathmandu valley was a lake. The great legend Manjushree had cut the hills to make a passage of the water in the lake and introduced the Kathmandu valley.
There was a lotus in the valley and Swayanbhunath stupa is believed to be placed on the same location where the lotus was placed. In the ancient period, Kathmandu valley as a whole was three different small states; Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur inhabited by local Newar people and ruled by different kings. Each state had a palace which has now turned into Kathmandu Durbar Square, Bhaktapur Durbar Square and Patan Durbar Square.
Besides these historical centers, Kathmandu has Pashupatinath temple, Swayambhunath stupa and Boudhanath stupa as the major attractions of the city. "I've trekked with four different operators. It's difficult to put into words how much better this experience was. The logistics were invisible — everything just worked. I'll be back for Annapurna next year."
