The Annapurna region is home to the magnificent Annapurna Massif, an impressive mountain range featuring peaks such as Annapurna I, Annapurna South, Annapurna III, Gangapurna, Hiunchuli, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). The dramatic amphitheater-shaped landscape around Annapurna Base Camp makes this journey a memorable adventure for mountain lovers.

As you gain altitude, the scenery gradually changes from green hills and terraced farmland to alpine landscapes and spectacular mountain views. The peaceful surroundings offer a refreshing escape from the busy cities of Nepal.

Experience Local Culture and Mountain Villages

The trek is not only about mountains and nature. It also provides an opportunity to experience the traditional lifestyle and culture of the Himalayan communities.

The Annapurna region is home to communities including the Gurung and Magar people, who have their own unique traditions, languages, festivals, and lifestyles. Along the trail, you can visit traditional villages, interact with local people, and experience the warm hospitality of the mountain communities.

The combination of natural beauty and cultural experiences makes the Annapurna Base Camp Trek a truly diverse Himalayan adventure.

Annapurna Base Camp Trek Route

Our 14-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek begins in Kathmandu. After traveling to Pokhara, the actual trekking journey begins from the lower Annapurna region.

The trail passes through beautiful mountain villages and forests, including Tikhedhunga, Ulleri, Ghorepani, Tadapani, Chhomrong, and Deurali before reaching Annapurna Base Camp.

After spending time at the base camp, the return journey follows a different route through Bamboo, Jhinu Danda, Landruk, and Pothana before returning toward Pokhara.

This varied route allows trekkers to experience different landscapes, villages, forests, and mountain viewpoints throughout the journey.

14 Day Annapurna Base Camp Trek

Our standard Annapurna Base Camp Trek itinerary is 14 days, including travel from Kathmandu and the trekking days in the Annapurna region.

However, trekking duration can be customized according to your schedule, fitness level, travel preferences, and available holiday time. Our experienced trekking team can help you plan a suitable itinerary and provide professional guidance throughout the journey.

Best Time for Annapurna Base Camp Trek

The best seasons for the Annapurna Base Camp Trek are generally spring and autumn. March to May offers pleasant trekking conditions and colorful rhododendron forests. September to November usually provides clear mountain views and comfortable weather.

Winter can also offer beautiful snowy landscapes, while the monsoon season brings more rainfall and cloudy conditions. Your trekking experience may vary depending on weather and trail conditions.

Short Annapurna Treks

If you have limited time, there are several shorter trekking options in the Annapurna region. The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek and short Annapurna panorama treks are excellent alternatives.

These shorter routes require less time and are generally less demanding than the Annapurna Base Camp Trek. They are suitable for travelers who want to experience Himalayan scenery, traditional villages, and mountain views while enjoying a shorter trekking holiday.

Pokhara is a gateway to almost all the trekking in Annapurna Region. We will drive from Pokhara to Nayapul from where our actual trekking begins. The drive will take approximately half hour then we start our incredible voyage toward Hile. The first day's walking is easy and short (only 3-4 hours), through the bank of Modi Khola. Overnight stay in local Guest House.

Today's walk gently begins with a long and steep climb on rock staircase to the village of Tikhedhunga and Ulleri. Here we will get a superb view of giant Annapurna South and Hiunchuli. We will continue our walk through the lush forest of Rhododendron and oak for several hours before reaching the large Gurung Village - Ghorepani. This village sits at the top of the hill and rewards us with marvelous views of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri Massif. Overnight stay in local guesthouse.

After having breakfast in early morning we will hike up to Poonhill in order to witness the most alluring sunrise view from the very famous viewpoint. After witnessing these incredible alluring glimpses we will return back to Ghorepani again and continue toward Tadapani. Overnight stay in local guesthouse.

From here the route descends through the rhododendron forests, here you can hear the mesmerizing chirping sound of diverse bird species. After a while we will walk on a steep downhill trail along the terraced fields and cross a suspension bridge over Kimrong Khola. The walk then follows the ascending path and a straight walk to Chhomrong that lies at an elevation of 2140 meters. Here, you will be rewarded with close views of Mt. Annapurna South, Himchuli, Mount Machhapuchre and several other snow capped peaks. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse.

Today, we will first follow the descending trail and cross the Chhomrong Khola through a suspension bridge. Then the trek passes through the deep and lush forest of Rhododendron and oak which offers us a peaceful walk. Again, the trail continues through the steep, long and slippery stone staircase. Then, crossing the lush forest of Bamboo and Rhododendron we will reach Dovan. Overnight stay in a local guesthouse.

Today is the day to reach our ultimate destination of the Annapurna Base Camp Trekking. We will take a hot soup early in the morning and start our walk towards Deurali. It takes approximately 4 hours to reach Deurali. Firstly, we will reach the Machhapuchhre Base Camp and enjoy the enticing views from here. Later, we will walk up to Annapurna Base Camp and enjoy the spectacular mountain vistas. The Annapurna Massif allures every single trekker in the region. The trail then continues through the scattered trees and leads steeply up to the ridge at Deurali. This viewpoint offers us incredible views of Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and many other high Himalayas. Then the route descends and takes us to Pothana village. Here we will explore the traditional village or watch the sunset over the white snowcapped mountain ranges. Overnight in local guest house.
