Bhutan Experience Tour starts with a flight to Paro airport in Bhutan from where you will be driven to Thimpu along a scenic and lush landscape around. From Thimpu, you will be escorted to Punakha and then to Bumthang from where you mark a return journey to Paro. At Paro, you can visit the famous Tiger’s Nest monastery.

Similarly, in Thimpu, there is much architecturally magnificent heritage. King’s Memorial Chorten, Nunnery temple, Zorig Chusum, National Library, Folk Heritage Museum, Taschichodzong, etc. are some of the places for sightseeing. At Punakha and Bumthang, you will be showered with some majestic views of mountains, valleys, lush environment that would put your mind at ease. Last we visit the ruins of Drugyal Dzong, an old fortress, and head towards Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan, just a two hour drive from Paro.

Early in the morning, we set off for a sightseeing tour around Thimpu city. You will be escorted to Pangri Zampa Monastery, situated just beyond Dechencholing Palace, a beautiful palace 5km from Thimphu and the first residential site of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal when he entered Bhutan in 1616 A.D. Next we visit the National Textile Museum, where you can explore the art of traditional weaving still preserved through exhibition. We also visit the Memorial Chorten, built in 1974 for King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Later, we head towards the radio tower for an incredible view of Thimphu Valley and Thimphu Dzong, and a zoo which houses the Takin, the national animal of Bhutan. We further have lunch and head towards the National Institute of Traditional Medicine and a traditional paper factory, followed by visits to Tashichodzong, Simtokha Dzong and the Folk Heritage Museum.

Early in the morning, after breakfast, we leave Thimpu and drive towards Punakha for an adventurous journey ahead. The drive is full of wonderful views, and on a clear day you can relish spectacles of the Himalayas. On the way, we stop at Dochu La pass at an elevation of 3150 meters to visit Druk Wangyal monastery, with gorgeous paintings reflecting the present monarchy and their visionary works. Leaving the pass, we descend along a way full of rhododendron forests, fir and farmlands. As we stop for lunch at Lobesa, we hike up to Chim Lhakhang temple on the way. After this we drive continuously until we reach Punakha.

Punakha is a beautiful village offering stunning views of valleys and snowcapped mountains. Today, we spend our day exploring the village. We set off for a hike, cross a suspension bridge and walk along the Mo Chu river on a well-leveled path. After a few hours of walking, we come across a local village where you can enjoy lunch. We further walk to Khamsum Yulley Namgyel Chorten in the upper Punakha valley, from where you can enjoy magnificent views of snowcapped mountains and other stunning landscapes. In the evening, we return down to Punakha village and stay there for the night.

Today, we leave Punakha village and head towards Bumthang. Our route passes the Pele La pass at an elevation of 3300 meters with scenic landscapes all around. We stop at Trongsa for lunch and visit a nearby dzong, a fine piece of Bhutanese architecture. Leaving Trongsa, we head towards Bumthang, another beautiful place with scenic lush valleys and hilly forests all around. Upon arrival, check into the hotel and stay there for the rest of the time.

Today, we spend the day in Bumthang. At first, we visit Jakar Dzong, the administrative center of the Bumthang valley. Then we head to Jambay Lhakhang, one of the oldest monasteries, dating back to the introduction of Buddhism in Bhutan. After that, we head to Kurjey Lhakhang, a sacred site where the great Guru Rinpoche is said to have left his body imprint while meditating in a cave. After visiting these places, we hike to Thangbi valley to visit Thangbi Lhakhang, built in the 14th century. Finally, we visit Tamshing Lhakhang, an interesting place with many Buddhist paintings. After all these visits in Bumthang, we return to our hotel for overnight stay.

Today is an exciting day as we will visit the famous Tiger's Nest monastery in Paro, a beautiful monastery perched atop a cliff in a dramatic location. We hike up to the monastery for one to one and a half hours until we reach it. From the cliff, you can get spectacular views of Paro city as well. The monastery lies on the spot where the great Guru Rinpoche is said to have flown in on the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave. After visiting the monastery, you will be escorted to other important sites in Paro if you weren't able to visit them on day 1 due to time constraints.
