Fly to Paro above the scenic Himalayan ranges down below. As you arrive in Paro airport, a representative of our company will pick you up and escort to your hotel for check in. Freshen up and enjoy your lunch for a sightseeing journey ahead. First of all, you will be escorted to Ta dzong museum, a treasure of many historical and religious antiques and art crafts. Next we head to Paro Rinpung dzong and then to Kichu Lhakhang. Kichu Lhakhang is one of the oldest temple of Bhutan. Last we head to visit the ruins of Drugyal Dzong, an old fortress. In the evening, you can just wander around the streets of Paro.
Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan is just two hours’ drive from Paro. Early in the morning, after breakfast, we head to Thimpu and enjoy the full day of sightseeing to different places in Thimpu. We visit national Memorial Chorten, National Textile Museum, the Folk Heritage Museum & School of Traditional Painting of Arts, National Library, the Traditional Paper Factory, Folk Heritage Museum, etc. if we couldn’t visit all the sites today, we will complete the tour tomorrow. In the evening, after concluding the sightseeing tour, you can explore around the streets of Thimpu for some fresh air and city life exploration of Thimpu.
A day sightseeing tour in Thimpu is not just enough as there is so many places more to explore. Hence we spend another day sightseeing around Thimpu city. Early in morning, you will be escorted to Pangri Zampa Monastery which is situated just beyond Dechencholing Palace, a beautiful palace 5kms from Thimphu. It was the first residential site of Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal when he entered into Bhutan in 1616 A.D. Next we visit National Textile Museum where you can explore art of traditional weaving that is still preserved through exhibition. We also visit The Memorial Chorten, a memorial built in 1974 for the King Jigme Dorji Wangchuck. Later, we head towards radio tower for an incredible view of Thimphu Valley, Thimphu Dzong and a zoo which consists of Takin- the national animal of Bhutan. We further have lunch and head towards the National Institute of Traditional Medicine, a traditional paper factory which is followed by a visit to Tashichodzong, Simtokha Dzong and the Folk Heritage Museum.
After the sightseeing tour in Thimpu, we take a drive back to Paro. Today is an exciting day as we will visit the famous – Tiger’s Nest monastery in Paro. It is a beautiful monastery perched on the top of a cliff, in a dramatic location. We should hike up to the monastery for one to one and half hours until we reach the monastery. From the cliff, you can get some spectacular views of Paro city as well. The monastery lies on the place where the great Guru Rinpoche had flown in the back of a tigress and meditated in a cave. After visiting the monastery, you will be escorted to your hotel. You can enjoy rest of the time on your own.
Concluding your journey to Bhutan, you will be escorted to the airport for your journey ahead.
