Gokyo Renjo La Pass trek joins the trail between Thame and Nangpa La Pass and is considered as the easiest trek out of the three passes; Kongma La (5,535m), Cho La (5,368m), and Renjo La (5,338m). This trek is rich in Sherpa culture and tradition, homely environment, warm hospitality of local people that encounter you the diverse Himalayan floras and faunas like Musk Deer, Wild Mountain goat, Snow Leopard, Lophophorous, Mountain Hawk while crossing the Sagarmatha National Park.

Route to Gokyo Renjo La Pass Trek!

The route to Gokyo Renjo La Pass takes you the less traveled trekking destination in the Everest region through the beautiful Gokyo valley, ridges, narrow clefts, gradual ascending trails that offer you the unparalleled panoramic view of snow-clad mountains. The route to Gokyo Renjo La Pass is full of diversity from the cultural heritage of local inhabitants to the majestic views of unspoiled landscapes.

The trek to Gokyo Renjo La Pass begins from the mountainous flight from Kathmandu to Lukla which is considered as the gateway to Everest region. The trails then continue from Lukla to Namche to Phortse Tanga to Dole to Machermo to Gokyo to Renjo La Pass to Lungden to Thame to Monjo and finally, return to Lukla. Following the rote of Gokyo Lake, the trail passes through the picturesque mountain views, antique village setting, lush Himalayan forests of juniper, rhododendron, fir, and pine, the Sagarmatha National Park, beautiful and small yak-grazing settlements through the Gokyo Lake making a circuit of Tawache and Cholatse.

The trail from Lukla continues along the bank of the Dudh Koshi River passing many suspension bridges to reach the popular and ancient trade center of the Khumbu region; Namche Bazaar that offers you the first glimpse of Mt. Everest and surrounding peaks. From here, the trail leads up towards the Mong La Pass and drop steeply down to the bank of the Dudh Koshi River. After that, the trail passes through the rhododendron forests and walking moderately you reach Dole and then Machermo. The final trail up to Gokyo village follows through the teahouses and up the lateral moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier.

You will then climb to Renjo La Pass situated at an elevation over 5,000 meters. Exploring Renjo La Pass, trekking downhill leads to Thame village; home of Sherpa people and then return to Lukla via Namche, Monjo (the entry point of Sagarmatha National Park), and finally to Lukla.

Day 1:- Arrival in Nepal via Kathmandu International Airport

Welcome in Nepal by one of our team member at the exit gate of the Kathmandu International Airport. After a warm greeting, you will transfer to the hotel and hotel check-in. Take rest and get fresh after a while! An introductory meeting will be held at our office. You will meet our team and your tour guide. At evening, enjoy welcome dinner in a Nepali eating place to taste real Nepali cuisine. Also, enjoy traditional and cultural dance and music while having dinner.

Note: Dinner and Introductory meeting will be postponed for another day if you arrive late at night.

Day 2:- Historical and Cultural Sites Visiting in Kathmandu and Trek Orientation

The very next morning, enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and get ready for today’s sightseeing inside the valley. Visiting the center of pilgrimage Pashupatinath temple and Swayambunath temple brings religious and peaceful insights. Boudhanath Stupa is the biggest Buddhist Stupa in Nepal. And, the royal Kathmandu Durbar Square represents the ancient architecture of Nepal crafted in the window and doors of the building. These sites are listed in the UNESCO World Heritage sites too.

Check your trekking equipment after returning back from these sites. We will conduct a meeting regarding trek preparation along with our tour guide. You can ask questions related to trek in Nepal. If you lack any kind of equipment, you can buy it from the trade center of Kathmandu; Thamel. Get your bag pack tonight for tomorrow early morning flight to Lukla.

Day 3:- Flight to Lukla (2,828m/9,279ft) and Trek to Phakding (2,780m/9,121ft) Flight Time: 35 minutes and Hiking Duration: 3 to 4 hours

After having morning breakfast, we will move to the Kathmandu Domestic airport to continue our journey in the Everest region. Captivating fantastic views of Himalayas and landscapes, you reach Lukla. Meeting with remaining trekking crew, having lunch and taking rest for a while, we begin our trek to Phakding. The trail up to Phakding descends to the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, crosses suspension bridges, and climb up to mountainside to reach Phakding. You will pass Chaurikharka village on the way and enjoy the views of Mt. Kusum Khanguru, Mt. Kwongde Range, and Mt. Nupla. We can visit to Phakding monastery after reaching the village.

Day 4:- Trek to Namche Bazaar (3,440m/11,287ft) from Phakding Hiking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Following the trail through the Dudh Koshi River, crossing several suspension bridges, meandering through the pine and rhododendron forests, we reach the village of Monjo (2,840m). Monjo is the entrance gate of the Sagarmatha National Park. The trail then passes through the Jorasle (2,830m) village which is the last settlement until Namche. Further trail climb steeply to reach Namche Bazaar. You will see the views of Mt. Nuptse, Mt. Everest, and surrounding snow-capped mountains from the delightful trade center of the Khumbu region. The view of sunrise and sunset look adorable from here.

Day 5:- Rest Day at Namche Bazaar

Adopting with higher elevation is much needed to trek in the Everest region. After morning breakfast, we will endeavor an hour-long climb up to the Synagboche for enjoying the views of Mt. Everest, sunrise, Khumbu valley, and the surrounding peaks. On the way, we will pass through the centuries-old chortens (stone Buddhist monuments). Also, hiking up to the Everest View Hotel offers you the magnificent views of many mountains such as Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Lhotse, and Everest. After descending to Namche, take full rest at your comfort zone.

Day 6:- Trek to Phortse Tanga (3,690m/12,106ft) from Namche Hiking Duration: 3 to 4 hours

Today’s trek begins with steep climb to the Khumjung hill then descend to the east of the village leading to the ridge of the Dudh Koshi River from where the route turns to the north. A further descending walk in a series of steep switchbacks on a sandy slope to the Dudh Koshi takes us to Phortse Tanga. On the way, we will see the dividing of the trail which presents the view of Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse. The downhill trail leads to the Everest base camp. Visit Mohang; the birthplace of re-incarnate Lama of Rongbuk monastery of Tibet. It is said that he introduced the Buddhism in Khumbu region. Reaching Phortse, roam around the place and visit the centuries-old monasteries as well as the local powerhouse. If you wish, we will hike up to Luri peak for impressive Himalayas and landscapes views.

Day 7:- Trek to Dole (4,200m/13,780ft) from Phortse Tanga Hiking Duration: 3 to 4 hours
After having breakfast, our trail begins with a steep climbing through the rhododendron forests. The trail passes many Kharkas; the summer settlements of Sherpas, Tonga, and Gyele before arriving at Dole. The view of Mt. Khumbila and Mt. Tawache are amazing from here. Explore around the village! Night stay at the tea house. Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner Included.
Day 8:- Trek to Machermo (4,470m/14,665ft) from Dole Hiking Duration: 4 to 5 hours

A steep climb along the side of the valley and rhododendron jungle, you reach Machermo. You will pass through many small settlements of Sherpas used in summer season while taking yaks for gazing. While trekking, you will feel the thinning of air and enjoy the spectacular views of Mt. Thamserku, Mt. Kangtiaga, and Mt. Cho Oyu. For rest of the day, explore Machermo and interact with local people to learn their unique culture!

Day 9:- Trek to Gokyo (4,790m/15,715ft) from Machermo Hiking Duration: 4 to 5 hours

After enjoying morning breakfast, we continue our trek towards the Gokyo; the valley of beautiful blue and green Lakes. The trail climbs a ridge beyond the Machermo from where the valley widens and passes through the Pangram (4390m). The further trail descends to the bank of the Dudh Koshi River which leads us to the terminal moraine of the Ngozumpa glacier; the longest glacier in the Himalayas. Afterward, the trail follows the valley passing a second lake known as Longponga (4690m) and then finally, a boulder-strewn path up to Gokyo. Enjoy the serenity of Gokyo while exploring around the valley!

Day 10:- Exploration Day in Gokyo and Hike to Gokyo Ri (5,357m)

Gokyo valley is surrounded with snow-capped mountains making this place as one of the wonderful place of the Khumbu region. Today, we will visit the fourth lake (Thonak Tsho) and the fifth lake (Mgozuma Tsh) of Gokyo and hike up to Gokyo Ri. After having morning breakfast, we will move forward towards an elevation over 5000 meters for the amazing sunrise view. From Gokyo Ri, you will witness the breathtaking views of Mt. Everest, Mt. Lhotse, Mt. Makalu, Mt. Cho Oyu, lakes of the Gokyo valley, and the longest glacier in the Himalayas; Mgozumpa Glacier. Later, we will descend to Gokyo valley and take rest for rest of the day!

Day 11:- Climb to Renzo La Pass (5,345m/17,536ft) and to Lungden (4,380m/14,370ft) Hiking Duration: 6 to 7 hours

A rewarding climb up to an elevation of 5,345 meters to witness the best views of this trek and to experience adventurous trekking. Today’s trail is a gentle uphill walk over the lush grassland. Reaching at the top of the Renjo La Pass despite of lit tough trail, you will rewarded with the amazing views of the Everest massif in the east, Rolwaling Himal in the west, and other snow-clad peaks in the north. You will also enjoy the views of many mountains such as Lhotse, Makalu, and the Gokyo Lakes. After spending valuable time in the lap of the Himalayas, we will descend to the settlement of Lungden. On the way, we will come across with the Tibetan traders with their caravans of wooly yaks laden with goods.

Day 12:- Trek to Thame (3,800m/12,467ft) from Lungden Hiking Duration: 3 to 4 hours

After having breakfast, we will trace our walk towards Thame. This place is the birthplace of legendary mountaineer Tenzing Norgay Sherpa; the first man to climb the Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary. You will walk through the stunning landscape following an old Tibetan trade route to reach Thame. Visit the historic Thame monastery to experience the spiritual Buddhist religions and explore around the traditional village!

Day 13:- Trek to Monjo (2,800m/9,187ft) via Namche from Thame Hiking Duration: 5 to 6 hours

Today’s trail leads downhill towards the Bhote Koshi River that joins with the Dudh Koshi River and then on the serene path at Thamo from where walking a couple of hours we reach the Namche Bazaar. After having lunch at Namche Bazaar and exploring the attractive trade market again, we trek downhill to Monjo. This place is famous for the entrance point of the Sagarmatha National Park.

Day 14:- Trek to Lukla from Monjo Hiking Duration: 4 to 5 hours

he last day of 16 days trekking journey in the Everest region! Retracing our steps along the bank of the Dudh Koshi River, passing through the rhododendron forests, and crossing the suspension bridges, we reach Lukla. On the way, encounter the scene of high mountains, lush green landscapes, and the rivers. Explore around Lukla or take rest for rest of the day!

Day 15:- Flight to Kathmandu

Within 35 minutes of mountain journey over diverse landscapes and lush green forests, we reach the Kathmandu Domestic Airport. Our representative will pick you up from here to the hotel. Visit around the popular touristic area; Thamel where you can buy gifts for your loved ones or family members!
